Bible Reading: Psalm 89:1-4

“I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 89:1)

Here is a question. Have you ever experienced and realised that God’s steadfast love is for you?

God’s love is steadfast and everlasting for all those who are His children. However, to be conscious of it and aware that God has shown and continues to show that love in our lives daily is another matter. So, what are we looking out for?

God’s love is steadfast means that God loves us continually and forever, despite whatever we do. This is amazing! Day by day, we keep on sinning, hurting God’s heart. But, God does not leave us nor forsake us. Instead, he loves us and brings us back to His Word, He teaches us His ways, and He leads us back to His path when we go astray.

Take a moment to reflect on your own life. See just how unfaithful we are to a loving God. Confess our sins which hurt God’s heart. But, at the same time, gaze at God’s steadfast love. No matter what you have done, God still loves You, and He is leading you back to His path this very moment. God is good. He is loving and always loving even when we are not.

But, God’s love is far more profound and broader and higher than these! Paul prays, “[so] that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith — that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

God’s steadfast love is infinitely wise. His love has been for us before the creation of the world (Ephesians 1:5). His love was made manifest on the cross (1 John 4:9). His love continues to pursue us and win us home until this day. Oh, that we would have eyes to see and ears to hear!

Our proper response to God’s steadfast love is praise and worship. With our hearts, we are called to sing praises to Him forever. With our mouths and lives, we are called to proclaim His faithfulness to all generations. How much do we praise God and proclaim His goodness in our lives? Such is the proper response to the love God has shown us. May God help us all.

Lord, thank You for Your steadfast love. Thank You that You are always loving. Forgive us when we sin and hurt You. Please teach us to love You because You have first loved You. Praise to You for Your steadfast love. Open our mouths and consume our lives as living sacrifices that we may live to proclaim Your faithfulness to all generations. In Jesus’ name, amen.
